Starting back up again…
So, I’ve re-started my website, Akarusa. And the impetuous for doing so is two-fold: First, I really miss taking pictures, and second, I am now officially a Leica owner! I’m transitioning to a simpler, back-to-basics approach…no extra lenses, no bulk, silent operation and a quickness in handling that Leicas are revered for. The camera I bought, the Leica Q2, is considered the best Point-and-Shoot camera in the world: 28mm f1.7 Leica Summilux fixed-lens, 47 megapixel full-frame sensor, incredible low light performance, dynamic range and resolution, fantastic Leica build-quality and ergonomics. It’s the perfect take everywhere camera, something I plan on doing all the time now. I’ve always admired the classic street-photography styles of Cartier-Bresson, Maier, Frank, Evans and others…how they could capture a moment that lasts less than a second, yet had so much to tell.
Thanks to Emily and Chris at the Leica DC Store for helping me get all set-up. If you’re a photography enthusiast or lover of the artform and find yourself in downtown DC, it’s a great place to visit:

I will be shooting a lot more from now on…and will be sharing those pictures on my site. Thanks for looking!
